November 14, 2008: Life has been crazy the past few months and we've been parked in one place way too long. On break in Myrtle Beach before settling into a cold site in Dayton, Ohio while we try to figure out how we're going to deal with my mother who is slowly self-destructing. In the meantime, I've added restaurants in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and Cincinnati, Ohio.
June 23, 2008: Obviously I've been neglecting this site again. My bad. New restaurants listed for Wilmington, Ohio. Slim pickings unfortunately. I have also added Adventure RV Service to our "Businesses We Like" page. Read it and see why.
April 5, 2008: Apparently the changeover to new servers in Columbus, Ohio went well because I'm still here. In gratitude, I uploaded our travels in 2006 to the "Our Travels" section of the website. It took a lot longer than it should have because I've forgotten how to do some of this stuff going so long between entries. My bad.
March 26, 2008: This morning I added information on our newly purchased Ford F450 pick up truck under the "What Not to Do" section of the website. On Friday, March 28 my webhosting firm is switching over to a new server so the site will be down for a day or so. *she says crossing fingers* I guess this would be a good time to back up my site, huh?
March 15, 2008: Added restaurants for Moore Haven, FL, Apopka, FL and Clermont, FL. After all this hassle with repairs to the old truck and trying to get the new truck set up and ready to haul, I'm about ready to sit down and take some time to work on this website. I'm thinking maybe a campgrounds page. The bad part is that I just finished scanning several years of campground brochures onto a CD, which then became corrupted by Roxio CD software somehow installing itself over my files. Of course I didn't discover it until I had destroyed the brochures and deleted the scans from the computer hard drive. Figures. So I'll have to do campground reviews from memory, which is always a dangerous thing with me.
February 15, 2008: I added restaurants in Port Richey, Hudson and St. Pete Beach, FL.
January 29, 2008: New today is a new web page on the site. Go find it. Okay, kidding! I've created a page comparing some of the features of a motorhome to those of a fifth wheel. You'll find it under "Motorhomes VS Fifth Wheels". If you have your own lists of reasons to purchase one RV over the other, I'd love to add them to the page to make it fair and comprehensive. There are also three new restaurants reviewed in Port Richey and one in Wauchula, Florida.
January 13, 2008: Wow! It's been two years since I created this website. Yes, I've neglected it a tad and yes, while no resolution was made, I am going to try to update the site a bit. I discovered my "FAQ" page questions didn't link to the answers for some reason--that has been fixed. I added three new restaurants in Florida this month. I don't review chain/fast food places normally, unless it's a chain that's not nationwide, like Mimi's Cafe or In-and-Out. Or if we have exceptionally bad food/service or exceptionally good food/service. Denny and I still prefer to find the small diners/restaurants where the locals eat. Usually we go by how many cars are in the parking lot. This doesn't work in Florida at 4:30PM--that simply means that it's Early Bird Special hour for the snowbirds, who will eat anything that's cheap. VBG (which stands for Very Big Grin)
November 25, 2007: I added a couple restaurant and business listings for the Myrtle Beach, South Carolina area.
September 23, 2007: Check under Delaware and Port Clinton, Ohio for a couple new restaurant listings.
September 19, 2007: I've shut down the One-Stop-Shop page of advertisers due to lack of interest on your part and mine.
August 24, 2007: I fixed the Kayak.com ad so now when you click it you don't get 1-800-Flowers! Sheesh. Good travel deals on Kayak.com. I've added a couple of new businesses on our businesses we trust page, creating an online section since I find I order a ton of stuff online now. I loves me some innernets! We're still in Ohio, sweltering away in record-breaking heat and we miss traveling desperately.
July 26, 2007: There's a couple of new restaurants added for Waynesville, Kettering and Cincinnati. Happy Anniversary, Denny!
July 9, 2007: Our time here in Ohio seems to be passing rather quickly and we've put a gazillion miles on the truck just traveling between our parents' homes and the campground. That's not the kind of traveling we like to do, but it's our life for this point in time. I have finally managed to put together my 2005 travel diary and get it online here. The best part about doing this web site is getting to re-live those places and the daily events of our lives and figuring out in retrospect what we might have done differently or what we learned about ourselves and our lifestyle. After all these years on the road, we're still learning.
June 27, 2007: Well, I know darn good and well I've updated this page since May 5, but the computer seems to have lost it. Alrighty, then. I've dropped some advertisers and put up the newest sales and discount ads for some of the clothing suppliers there. I've added Marion's Piazza in Dayton and the Tuscany Grille in Bellbrook, OH to the restaurants page and created the Crystal Cachet for Kids page for a little baby bling for young girls. I know I'm way behind on adding photos and travel blogs and I'm slowly working on that. Real slowly. Sigh.
May 5, 2007: My newest page is about connecting to the Internet while rving. I've briefly run down some of the methods you can use to get online while traveling, from the free (libraries and Wi-fi hotspots) to the expensive (installing a MotoSat system on the roof of your recreational vehicle). See it at Internet on the Road.
April 28, 2007: Time flies when you're having fun. The Orange Glo company (I love their products) is one of our newest advertisers, plus Camping World has some coupon specials so click on their button. If you're going to be dining in Lake Havasu City, check out the newest restaurants I added. Remember that Mother's Day is coming up--check out the Sea of Diamonds ad or our newest affiliate, The Spa Finder, for some great gift ideas.
March 29, 2007: I've added three new advertisers to my Window Shopping page. Sea of Diamonds (I LOVE jewelry), RapidFAX, a service that allows you to fax over the Internet and through e-mails for a monthly fee which is great if you're operating a business while on the road, and Pingo, a calling card service that specializes in international cards which should appeal to those folks who winter in Mexico or who may have loved ones stationed overseas. Check them out!
March 28, 2007: Today's additions are to the Yuma restaurant section again. I also cleaned up the advertisers page a bit. Now it's siesta time methinks.
March 18, 2007: While adding Arnie's Cafe to the Yuma section of restaurants I realized there wasn't a Yuma section of restaurants. Computer glitch or brain fart, I don't know, but's that section has been updated, along with some restaurants in Grand Island, NY (that's near Niagara Falls and more importantly, our grandkids) and a pizza place in Apache Junction, AZ.
March 14, 2007: Bring out the trumpets--I've finally added my 2004 travel journal. Yay! This time I used a map routing program called Wayfaring to show our travel route for the year 2004, but I'm not sure how it's going to work with my site. The individual stops are clickable on my blog, but they don't appear to work on this site. I may end up changing back to the hand drawn version of previous years.
March 4, 2007: Wow, the things that happen when you don't pay attention! The links didn't work in my 2003 travels page--that's been corrected. The links in my How Do You-FAQS page didn't work--that's been corrected. I added The Dock Restaurant in my California restaurant reviews, a mobile California RV repair technician out of Palm Springs to my Businesses We Trust page, and another kitchen tip on the Hints and Tips page. I am working on our 2004 travels, including a new campground by campground map. We'll see how that goes. Of course, for current events you'll just have to check out http://rvvagabonds.blogspot.com
February 17, 2007: There's nothing good on TV so I'm updating the restaurant review page. Newly added, although some are from past years' visits, are restaurants in Apache Junction, Mesa, Queen Valley and Gold Canyon. I know I need to add to our travels section and maybe clean up my page about buying a new rig. It's hard to be ambitious when the sun is warm, the sky is blue, the Colorado River is green and the lounge chair is calling my name.
February 4, 2007: Wow, do you have any idea of how hard it is to update your restaurant reviews when the Super Bowl commercials are on? New restaurants added for Lake Havasu City, Benson and Casa Grande, all in Arizona. Because that's where we roll.
January 9, 2007: Two more restaurants were added to the reviews; Abita Springs Cafe in LA and Apple Station in OH.
January 3, 2007: Happy New Year to all! The folks at the Good Sam Club have notified me that the cost of their annual membership is being raised to $29.95 from $25.00. For those of you purchasing a membership for the first time, however, there is a special purchase price of $19.00 this month. That's a great bargain so check out the banners at my One Stop Shop page to sign up now.
December 18, 2006: Yes, I've been very lazy updating and expanding this website. I promise to do better next year, but right now we're back in Ohio involved with Christmas merry-making so this will be brief. The citizens of the fine state of Ohio passed a law banning smoking in public areas that went into effect this month so our restaurants are now smoke free as are bars, bowling alleys and most enclosed public areas. Fair warning for smokers visiting the state. We're welcoming Good Sam into our commercial page (the One Stop Shop) and many of our advertisers are offering free shipping for online orders. Take a look. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all.
December 2, 2006: New restaurants in Georgia and Florida. Enjoying the beach.
November 6, 2006: Today's addition is on my advertising page (Window Shopping). Wine.com and RV Scrapbooking have joined the team of fine business operators. Christmas is coming so take a look at what our advertising partners have to offer.
October 23, 2006: I've added restaurants in Orange, VA and Salisbury, North Carolina. I am currently trying to locate where I entered my e-mail link page to remove it because the spammers are driving me crazy. Eventually that link will disappear. Sometimes this would be easier if I knew what I was doing. Sigh.
October 13, 2006: I've been offline due to equipment problems and have only been able to update today thanks to a neighboring rig with an unsecured Wi-Fi system. I've updated my restaurants page with additions in Pomeroy, Middleport and Waynesville, OH, Athens, Princeton and Pipestem, VA and Wilson, NC. I've also added to the hints and tips page.
September 24, 2006: I have added the travel journals for the year 2003 to the "Our Travels" section of the website. Now you have some of the history to go with the photos.
September 8, 2006: Whew, a busy day! I added a detail about our tricked out Ford F450 on our "How not to do it" page under the Ford F450 section. My Links page is now called Random Links since it is not just about RVing. Under the Links page itself I have added Happy Camper to the Campground Links section. I changed the name of the "Need Help?" page to "Companies We Trust" just to be more precise. Finally, I have added some restaurants in New York to our restaurants section.
August 29, 2006: I finally finished loading the remainder of the pictures for 2003. Boy, am I glad that year is done.
August 15, 2006: Today's update is a couple of hints added to the Hints and Tips page.
August 13, 2006: Whew, another huge gap in my updates, but we're finally back on the road and I have access to my desk top PC. I've added two restaurants for Port Clinton, Ohio and uploaded a few more pictures to the 2003 travel photos.
July 1, 2006: I've reduced the prices on my jewelry on the "Crystal Cache" page.
June 26, 2006: Wow, another two weeks have passed without any additions to the web site. My excuse is I hate using a laptop and most of my information is in our rig which is in storage. I've tweaked the One-Stop-Shop page yet again as I've discovered SecondSpin.com, an online company that not only sells used music, game and movie CDs and DVDs but buys them from you for cash or credit. What a great way to get rid of those movies or games you are bored with!
June 14, 2006: No amount of tweaking will allow me to access the files on my back up disks of digital pictures from 2003-2004 so I won't be adding travel photos from that period for a while. I will start working on 2005 soon, but in the meantime all I've done is updated some of the coupons/discounts available from some of our advertisers and added a couple more advertisers to the list. I've been WAY busy pouting over being stuck here on the couch with this horrid leg brace and haven't felt like dealing with the time consuming task of downsizing all my pictures to upload on the website's gallery for publication. It's one of the weak spots of IX Webhosting, in my opinion, but that may be standard for the genre.
June 3, 2006: Yes, I've been a bit remiss with my updates, but my excuse is that I slipped and fell in the parking lot of a Flying J Truck Stop while traveling on May 21 with the end result of breaking my knee cap and rupturing my patellar tendon. We returned to Ohio where I could recuperate in a one-level home (my mother's) after surgery to repair the break and the tear. We will not be traveling for several months so I hope to get back to working on this website although it was originally created on my desktop computer which remains stored with our rig. I'll struggle through with the laptop in the meantime. Today's addition is the beginning of a list of basic items needed to supply your recreational vehicle for use. I have broken the list into three sections; those items I (my opinion, of course) deem necessary, those items that simply make life on the road easier and some that are more expensive still, but are great to have. This is only the beginning of the list as after awhile Patches (the new kitten) decides she needs to nap on the keyboard because it is warm and because it distracts Mom so that she'll play.
May 13, 2006: More restaurants have been added in Alabama, Florida and Louisiana. I have created a page of businesses we have used while traveling and have titled it "Need Help?". Some of the businesses we used for emergency repairs and some were for basic maintenance, but the purpose is to list those that did a good job. Occasionally I'll add hair salons, hardware stores and other locations that have served us well.
May 7, 2006: I accidentally loaded my 2003 travel photos page before I was finished loading all the pictures. So that page will be an ongoing process.
May 6, 2006: My newest web page consists of my hand-crafted jewelry made with Swarovski crystals. Those items shown are what I have on hand, but I will be taking orders.
April 28, 2006: Restaurants were added to the Fulton and Rockport, Texas sections and to Robertsdale, Alabama. Many of our advertisers have new coupon/discounts for the month of May-check out our advertisers' page.
April 17, 2006: I have updated the restaurants page with two new restaurants in Texas and have added our travels in 2002 to the Our Travels section.
April 12, 2006: I have updated my hints and tips page.
March 29, 2006: I have added new advertisers to my advertisers' page. Why do I have advertisers? Because quite honestly, we live on one pension and any added income is a bonus which pays for a little more fuel to allow us to continue traveling. Have I mentioned we still have ten states that we have left to explore? Plus all the wonders yet to see in the other 40 states already traveled? So check out the nice folks on the page. As mentioned before, those who have an asterick (*) by their name we have done business with ourselves.
March 26, 2006: Three restaurants in Camp Verde were added to my restaurants page.
March 25, 2006: A correction to the March 18 note-I completed the 2000 travel journal, not one for the year of 2002. That will take a while. This morning's addition is the 2001 Travel Journal to the "Our Travels" link.
March 18, 2006: The Travel Photos of 2002 page is finished. I also completed the section of our 2000 travel journal under the "Our Travels" link.
March 17, 2006: I'm starting to load pictures for the year 2002 and I added a couple of businesses on the advertising page.
March 16, 2006: The travel journals section has been started so I've added the first couple of pages. There are new restaurants shown for Needles, CA, Wendon and Salome, AZ.
March 14, 2006: I've started a separate page of advertisers as an experiment for additional income. If it turns out to be a viable option for income, I'll create a page about it.
March 13, 2006: I cleaned up the "Links" page a bit and attempted some re-alignment on the "Don't Blow a Breaker" page. All of which I did once already yesterday, but the satellite signal was going in and out and apparently none of the changes were saved in spite of what the web hosting site told me. Sigh.
March 11, 2006: I added to the "Hints and Tips" page and also created a web page on the number of amps certain RV appliances pull while operating. My darling husband still hasn't figured out that you can't run the air conditioner with the electric water heater and then microzap something at full power without the circuit breaker tripping when we're only plugged into a 30 amp site.
March 6, 2006: I've added two restaurants to the Parker, AZ listings and revised the "How Do You.." page.
February 28, 2006: I reversed the order of this page so the newest revisions/additions are at the top of the page. It takes me a while to figure these things out. Heh. I also added what I hope will be the first and only page of advertising to this website as a clickable link.
February 26, 2006: I've added the 2000 Photo Album page.
February 22, 2006: Today's addition is a new page entitled "Hints and Tips for RVers" and a new survey on the "About Us" page.
February 18, 2006: I added a new page entitled "How Do You..?" which answers some general questions about fulltiming.
February 16, 2006: I added two restaurants for Casa Grande, AZ and a couple more for Kettering, OH. I finished the 1999 picture album (we used the camcorder more frequently than the camera that year)
February 4, 2006: I have added a couple of links on the links page and added a link to a very informative site with tips and information for beginning geocachers on my geocache page
February 3, 2006: I have added a page on geocaching and have started a photo album page for our travels. The photo pages will be a long, ongoing process so be patient.
January 30, 2006: I added Jasmar's Papillion's website to my links page in the "fun links" section. Check out the adorable puppy pictures there. I can totally vouch for these folks as they are personal friends.
January 29, 2006: I added restaurants in Arizona, California, Idaho, Montana, Ohio, Utah and Washington.
January 28, 2006: I added a current picture of our Ford F450 truck on the "How not to do it" page and a poll to the "What's New" page
January 26, 2006: I've added more restaurants to the list
January 25, 2006: The Restaurants page now has some restaurants listed..
What's new is the "What's New" page. Heh.
Thanks to a "heads up" from Tom of www.RVGifts.com I've corrected my links page so that the links actually work. A lesson learned; just because a page shows up correctly in my preview panel doesn't mean I shouldn't double-check it after it has been published and is online.
